We are currently looking for someone like you - awesome, autonomous, and accountable - for our Sales & Brand Ambassador position. After three years of self-distribution, we recently partnered with a distributor to continue to help us take our brand to the next level. We understand that offering a partner and support to this wholesaler team is key to success in driving brand awareness and sales.
The Sales & Brand Ambassador will be accountable for ensuring that sales goals are met by strategically increasing sales volume through sustainable growth. This position involves a considerable amount of time in the market visiting on-premise and off-premise retailers, educating and building existing and new relationships in order to forge strong partnerships.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Responsible for selling Idlewild Spirits Distillery products to all current and prospective customers
Responsible for increasing distribution and volume across the key on-premise and key off-premise accounts.
Create & follow a consistent store visit schedule and provide weekly updates to management.
Build relationships with local wholesaler team(s): sales reps, merchandisers, team leads, sign-shop, etc.
Assist wholesaler representatives with the selling, sampling & tasting activations, and Point-of-Sale placement
Implement sales performance measures and targets using brand priorities with wholesalers while assisting in achieving expected results.
Make daily decisions regarding retail inventory levels using past sales history, and changes in climate, competitive activity, and special promotional activities.
Utilize sales history and competitive activity to manage territory and retailers.
Promote and build brand awareness of Idlewild Spirits through promotional events, when appropriate and always being a steward of the brand.
Execute events and promotional activities – sampling, training (may include evenings and weekends)
Review target account reports to ensure our brand is performing at the top of class levels for all assigned accounts, both on and off premise.
Establish and monitor quality control standards. Communicate with all departments as necessary - both external and internal (Production / Management)
Improve velocity in accounts by building displays (when applicable), driving distribution, resetting shelves, displaying POS items, educating retail employees, hand selling, sampling, securing features, and developing promotional programs.
Ensures product is properly priced and POP is compliant
Utilize knowledge and adhere to local alcoholic beverage laws
Skills and Abilities:
Fluent in written and spoken English and/or other languages
Profound knowledge of distilled spirits (whiskey, gin, rum & vodka, liqueurs, infusions) and the distillation process - A whiskey brand ambassador should have a deep understanding about whiskey, from its production to consumption. You should also have the ability to communicate that knowledge effectively and educate others. Training will be provided but prior knowledge is key! The expectation will be to work with the head distiller and production team will be mandatory.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to adjust a message to the audience; Public speaking can be a daily occurrence for a whiskey brand ambassador. You must be comfortable speaking to groups ranging from one person to a dozen people through to hundreds. You must be a charismatic and professional speaker who engages (and excites) their audience. You must also have strong presentation skills.
Highly-creative, able to generate fresh, impactful ideas and see them through to implementation.
High energy person who can build a passion for our brand - A whiskey brand ambassador must have the ability to evangelize Idlewild's product and get people excited about it. You must be passionate about whiskey and be able to get other people excited about the brand.
Proven ability to think and move between strategic and analytical thinking as well as the actual execution.
Ability to work autonomously - A brand ambassador is usually working unsupervised in a wide variety of locations. You must have the ability to push themselves and perform their job well.
Ability to coordinate brand information, supply POS material, and keep lines of communication open with the state's wholesaler network in order to better sell-through products.
Ability to own budgetary responsibility and execute against timelines
Ability to influence people - Because this is a sales role, the ambassador must have the ability to influence people and convince them that the brand is of the highest quality.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelors' Degree in Sales, Business or related field
Minimum 1-3 years experience in Distribution, Outside Sales, Food/Beverage or related industry
Valid Driver's License and background check
Conducts work in a sitting and standing position primarily: however, the job requires walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds
The job requires the ability to drive, most travel will be in the state of Colorado.
