POSITION: Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

FLSA STATUS: Full Time / Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Plant Manager and Foremans, the Maintenance Technician identifies, evaluates and performs mechanical and preventative repairs to plant processing equipment. These duties include welding, cutting, pipefitting and operation of light machine tooling. The candidate will apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and electrical components.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify repair requirements for equipment and conduct effective and timely repairs as required
Develop preventative maintenance routines for plant equipment and execute
Ability to identify and solve problems, develop and select action plans and make decisions with minimal supervision
Operate various plant equipment required to perform the job (stationary or mobile)
Operate maintenance repair equipment such as man lifts and forklifts
Comprehend Lock Out/Tag Out procedures per company policy
Read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, machine blue prints and schematics, for trouble shooting and repair, including electrical schematics and prints
Assist in training of new employees
Ability to follow safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures
Perform all other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:
Must have base competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, welding, plumbing, machine tooling, blue prints, schematics, parts lists and equipment standards related to job duties
Must be able to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, read and interpret gauges, ratios, and read various equipment operation manuals
Working knowledge of welding equipment and tools and skills in basic welding and fabrication
Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions and work independently
Must be flexible and capable of learning several different jobs in the department (will be expected to perform and number of assignments involving a variety of equipment during the shift)
Must have base competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including methods, materials, tools, and operation standards related to working in a mining environment
Must have the ability to plan, organize, and prepare accurate records with little or no supervision
Highly reliable team player and the ability to work well with others
Ability to work various hours, including nights and weekends to include overtime
Able to work in inclement weather, including elevated areas in a man lift

Education and/or Training:
High School Diploma or GED equivalency
Vocational/Technical school diploma preferred
5 years' experience in industrial maintenance and repair
Previous mine operations experience a plus including work as plant maintenance technician in sand and gravel mining operations
Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
