We seek an entry level, Accounting Clerk I whose education or experience shows knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), concepts and theories and the ability to apply them to a variety of financial problems. Knowledge of the theory, principles and practice of fund accounting in a federal government environment is a plus. Accounting degree or studies a plus.
Needs ability to analyze, reconcile and interpret financial data, extract pertinent details and prepare reports in a federal financial environment specifically dealing with deposit funds, vendor payments, cash collections, un-liquidated obligations, payroll and/or property.
Needs knowledge of computerized accounting systems, particularly accounting systems designed to account for appropriated funds and knowledge of computerized word processing and spreadsheet application software.
Comfortable in maintaining effective interaction with employees and customers from various organizations and potential ability to communicate effectively regarding financial matters, both verbally and in writing.
