MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
:
A graduate from an accredited school of nursing, social work, counseling or psychology. Advanced preparation (i.e. baccalaureate degree or current enrollment and/or professional certification) preferred.
Experience:


Three (3) to five (5) years psychiatric experience required. Previous experience as a program coordinator preferred.
License and Certification:
A valid unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse, social worker, counselor or psychologist in the State of Connecticut required. Certification in Psychiatric Nursing required if licensed as a registered nurse. Ability to obtain and maintain Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification within 90 days of hire.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Experience:
Five (5) or more years previous psychiatric experience with experience as a program coordinator.
License and Certification:
A valid unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse, social worker, counselor or psychologist in the State of Connecticut required. Certification in Psychiatric Nursing required if licensed as a registered nurse.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Thorough knowledge and application of nursing principles and practices to include demonstrated ability to assess, intervene and evaluate patient status. Proven leadership ability to develop and mentor staff. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers. Ability to work collaboratively with all healthcare providers in order to establish and implement the patient plan of care. Good time management skills. Strong commitment to customer service.
PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Considerable decision making authority concerning the daily activities of the work unit, including providing recommendation for department policy change. Requires the ability to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems. Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
