Reports to: Aquatics Coordinator
Position Summary: Under general supervision, teach varying levels of swim lessons and to perform related duties as required.
-Ability to teach children and or adults in a private or group setting
-Enforces established rules and regulations governing the safe use of pool
-Monitors the swimming pool and surrounding area in order to prevent emergencies; rescues bathers as necessary; renders CPR and first aid as needed
-Instructs swimming classes and aquatic activities
-Maintains and cleans the pools and surrounding area; prepares reports of rescues or unusual occurrences as needed
-Disseminates information on policies and procedures to the public
-Stand as a positive role model while providing customer service
-Education and/or Experience: Completion of formal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
-Knowledge of: Lifeguarding, water safety instruction, first aid and CPR.
-Skill and/or Ability to: Effectively communicate both orally and in writing; instruct classes in swimming and aquatic activities; enforce water safety rules and regulations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and provide exemplary customer service to all guests
-Certification: Possession of a valid American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate; possession of an American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate; possession of an American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificate. Possession of an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Standard First Aid certificate.
