landslide, with house-size boulder, wipes out section of main road in southwest Colorado

A landslide between Cortes and compound closed Colorado 145 on Friday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The slide, about 12 miles north of Dolores, has closed the main road indefinitely, CDOT aforementioned in a news release.

Rocks, dirt and two giant boulders, one as big as a house, destroyed the full breadth of the road, departure an 8-foot trench crosswise some lanes and making the section impassable, CDOT aforementioned.

At least one boulder will need to be blame as part of the cleanup effort. It was unclear when the main road will reopen.
